The Medical Director provides primary care. The individuals have access to physicians of various specialties including services in Greenville & Chapel Hill. Nursing services focus on illness prevention and maintenance of optimal health to facilitate the highest level of daily functioning. Detection and early intervention for any illnesses, as well as monitoring of existing chronic conditions is another goal. Nursing provides training and supervision of the health care provided by Habilitation Technicians.

The consultant Psychologist evaluates to determine developmental level, and plans intervention for any behavioral issues with input from the interdisciplinary team.

The consultant Dietitian monitors nutritional status, makes specialized dietary recommendations, plans menus and trains staff regarding food preparation.

The consultant Physical Therapist monitors the orthopedic status, provides positioning and range of motion and monitoring of wheelchair seating systems. The Physical Therapist also provides training for the Habilitation Technicians to do the same.

The consultant Speech Therapist assesses communication abilities, and provides input regarding any special dining needs. The S.T. also provides speech therapy and recommends and monitors the use of any augmentative communication devices.

The Special Education Teacher provides ongoing assessment and education for the school-age individuals in Carobell's on-campus non-public school. The school is certified by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction.

The consultant Occupational Therapist monitors the fine motor and dining skills, and provides training to Direct Care staff as to abilities and any special feeding needs.

Recreational Aquatic Services are offered to residential as well as community individuals. The warm indoor pool provides benefits of improved range of motion, recreation and social interaction.

These dedicated and caring Habilitation Technicians are highly trained to provide support to the individuals. They are knowledgeable about the various needs and goals for each individual they work with, and incorporate these into their daily activities. Habilitation Technicians provide valuable input to the interdisciplinary team regarding the changing needs of the individuals they support.

The Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP) monitors the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of the individuals they serve, and coordinate the efforts of each of the specialty consultant services, bringing the Interdisciplinary Team together annually and as needed to review strengths, needs, goals and interventions. The QMRP consults regularly with each discipline, as well as guardians. They serve as advocates for their individuals as needed, ensuring compliance with individuals' legal and human rights.

The licensed Adult Developmental Vocational Program serves residential adults, as well as individuals from the local community. Services are tailored to support each individual's strengths, needs and desires. Paid employment opportunities are available within the vocational setting, as well as supported employment in the community.
